According to a Jungle School Mama I know, it’s not Jungle School unless you get dirty. By that definition alone, this doesn’t really qualify for Jungle School but it is a new trail and it does qualify as a hike. And since that same Mama agreed that “hiking” sounds cooler than “walking”, hiking it is…
1. to walk a long distance especially for pleasure or exercise : to go on a hike
Melawati Hiking Trail
By hiking standards, the Melawati trail couldn’t be more of a highway. There are no steps – the path is just one gradual incline covered with asphalt the entire way.
At the end of the trail is a plateau you could have a picnic at. It used to have a panoramic view of the city but the trees have grown up around it so it looks more like a glade than a peak.
Not to worry, you can still get some pretty views along the way…
How tough is it? Based on my Polar Beat readings, it’s not as tough as Bukit Saga or Bukit Gasing (although I should add that there are lots of trails at Bukit Gasing and depending on which one you take, the intensity varies considerably). That said, the Melawati Hiking Trail is still a pretty good “fat-burning” workout if that’s what you’re looking for.
Find your way to K Klub and turn up Jalan G 1.

Along Jalan G1, look for these gates. This is the start of your trail. Happy hiking!
