Chocolate Decadence – Toblerone Chocolate Cake!

I had an excess of Toblerone chocolate so I made this…

Toblerone Choc Cake

  • 125g Toblerone chocolate, melted
  • 125g butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 100g brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 265g wholemeal flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 180ml cream

Add all ingredients into a mixing bowl and beat until smooth and changed in colour. Pour mixture into a greased loaf pan and bake in an oven preheated to 180C for 1 hour.

  • This is a modified recipe. The original recipe used sour cream, dark chocolate, 165g of castor sugar (I reduced the sugar since Toblerone is a lot sweeter than regular dark chocolate), and self-raising flour (no baking powder).
  • The edges were a bit crisp but I stumbled on a solution when I packed a slice in Hercules’ lunch box with his bread. I think it absorbed some of the moisture from his bread and ended up with a nicer texture.

Nutritional Information

  • We tried to make this cake a “little” healthier with wholemeal flour and brown sugar.

We made a similar Toblerone chocolate cake once before. The recipe’s here if you would like to try it. Unfortunately, it was so long ago, I cannot remember how this recipes compares with that one…
