Some time back I got really into the Nintendo Wii Fit. I was on it everyday. After a while, I got bored of it and that’s when the discipline started to flag. I remember thinking that it would be cool if they could come up with more Wii Board Games that were fun and would give me a good work out at the same time. After all, the best way to lose weight (post-partum weight, at that) is to have fun while you exercise. The Nintendo Wii Board is all about moving your body and having fun.
Well, they did eventually come up with more. The first one I heard about was the Jillian Michael’s Fitness Ultimatum (see the trailer below):
It was definitely one way to use the Wii Balance Board to get fit, but it didn’t look like a lot of fun, unless your idea of fun is going to the gym – which I don’t particularly mind, but I could still think of many other things I’d rather be doing.
Then they had Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout:
They also had Gold’s Dance Workout which looked more like fun since it was a dance routine rather than crunches and running. Not good if you’re un-co, though.
Then they came out with the Wii Fit Plus:
I figured since I liked the original Wii Fit that I might like this one, too. After checking out the trailer, I would have second thoughts about getting it though. Rather than being an add-on to the original Wii Fit, it looks more like a new and improved version of the original. Yes, they have some new games, but most of it is repeated but the whole layout is done to provide more info on monitoring your fitness progress – weight loss, etc. I would get it if I didn’t already have the original Wii Fit.
Then they had EA Sports Active which looked set to make a storm…
Unfortunately, it was followed closely by New U, which stole its thunder:
With so many new Wii Board fitness programs to choose from (these are just a few that I picked out), there’s really no excuse not to dust off the Wii Board and get active again. By the time you’re board of these, I’m sure there will be more new games to try.
